quiz.arjd.cc: Practice, Tracked, No Shortcuts

I've talked before about the things I deliberately keep AI out of — testing myself when I study being one of them. There's a particular kind of learning that only happens when you sit with a question you can't immediately answer. No hints, no shortcuts, just you and the problem. I built quiz.arjd.cc because I wanted a place that protects exactly that.

What It Is

Quiz is a small, focused practice platform — daily quizzes and full mock exams, tracked over time. No AI answering for you, no shortcuts to the right choice. Just repetition, honest attempts, and a record that shows where you actually stand.

Right now there's a Daily Math Quiz — a short mix of arithmetic, decimals, fractions, percentages, and table-reading. Sign in and you get one free attempt a day. Small and simple on purpose. Every attempt adds to your record, so the value compounds the more consistently you show up.

Civil Service Exam Prep

The bigger piece right now is a full Civil Service Exam track — practice quizzes and timed mock exams for both Professional and Sub-Professional levels, modeled closely on the real thing.

On the practice side: Numerical Ability, Analytical Ability, English, Filipino-Tagalog, General Information, and Clerical Ability — each pulled from the actual exam categories, so you're training on the real shape of the test, not a rough approximation.

On the mock exam side, it mirrors real conditions as closely as I could manage — 170 questions and a 3-hour-10-minute limit for Professional level, 165 questions and 2 hours 40 minutes for Sub-Professional, both requiring an 80% passing rate. No pausing to look something up. Just you, the clock, and the material.

Every Attempt Gets Recorded

None of this matters if you can't see the pattern of your own practice, so every attempt — practice quiz or full mock — lands in a History page. It's filterable by quiz type, across everything from the Daily Math Quiz to both CSE mock exams, and by outcome: passed only, failed only, or just the ones you've starred to revisit later.

Each entry logs total quiz duration alongside average time per question, so you're not just seeing whether you got something right — you're seeing whether you're getting faster, where you're stalling out, and whether accuracy is coming at the cost of speed or the other way around. Over enough attempts, that record says more about your readiness than any single score does.

Why I Built It This Way

It would've been easy to bolt an AI tutor onto this and call it a feature. I chose not to. The whole point of a quiz is the discomfort of not knowing yet — that's the part that actually builds the skill. AI is incredible for drafting, brainstorming, and speeding up the parts of work that don't need to be struggled through. Testing yourself isn't one of those parts.

A quiz that tells you the answer isn't a quiz. It's just a very slow way of reading a textbook.
